M40 Junction 6

The rebus just shows a motorway junction sign [REB9].

The balding man is Dave Kee, setter of the 1996 Hunt, who we last met in Bledlow Ridge. His card now shows the Fibonacci spiral which was the theme of that Hunt. Phyllotaxis is the arrangement of leaves in plants, which is often in accordance with the Fibonacci series. Nautilus shell, Achillea ptarmica (sneezewort) and Echinacea purpura (coneflower) are all species that demonstrate a marked adherence to Fibonacci [J61].

If you use the Fibonacci series (1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21) on the first sequence of letters on the back of the card, you get CUCHULAINN [J63]. He was the hero of an old Irish cycle of legends. In particular he was also known as Setanta [J62] (the logo of the Setanta Sports TV channel is shown on the front of the card) and the Hound of ULSTER [J64].

The second code is the one from The Gold Bug by Edgar Allen Poe that was also used in the 1996 Hunt. The phrase Auric Entomologist on the front of the card is a clue to this [J65]. The decode is Having hair that is naturally tightly curled. This is a definition of the word ULOTRICHOUS [J66]. However, such curls dont have to be Fibonacci spirals.
