Watlington

The rebus shows the definition of a WATT (0.00134102 Horsepower), a LING (Fish) and the definition of a TON (907.185 Kg) [REB10].

The crosswords number is 61524 which can be split as 6, 15, 24 or FOX [WAT1].

The crossword itself has a George Orwell theme, as did the 1995 Hunt. The solution is as follows:

If you dont understand any part of this solution then feel free to ask [WAT2].

The crossword has an extra clue, 25 across, reading Where John Peels wife was born that does not fit into the puzzle. The Peel in question is not the much missed DJ but the huntsman from the Do Ye Ken John Peel song. He was a real-life figure and his wife was one Mary White from ULDALE [WAT3].

The woman from Cambridge is Rosalind Barden, setter of the 1995 Hunt, who we last encountered in West Wycombe.  The answer to 17 down is NAGASAKI [WAT4].

The question that You couldnt immediately make out has been hidden by putting it in the same colour as the background. It reads "Replace one letter from this place to find where my treasure was hidden. Do the same as Caesar to tell me what has slgeaufmetwjxaxlqxgmj." [WAT5]  This place is Watlington and if we replace the T with an L we get Wallington, where the treasure was buried in the 1995 Hunt. The fact that there is some sort of code and the word Caesar suggests the use of the Caesar cipher. In this case, we use the variant where a T would become an L (and A becomes S) to decode as ATOMIC NUMBER FIFTY FOUR. The element with Atomic Number 54 is XENON [WAT6].
